Countax PTO Belts

Countax PTO Belts
Countax PTO belts connect the engine's power take-off to the deck system, enabling blade engagement for effective grass cutting across all Countax mower configurations. Our power take-off belt range includes PTO drive belts for TimeCutter zero-turns, commercial Z Master equipment, and riding mower models requiring robust blade engagement. Countax Spares stocks mower PTO belts for residential and professional applications, with worldwide delivery on all PTO replacement belt orders. These critical PTO belt components feature reinforced construction engineered to handle the substantial torque loads generated during blade startup and continuous cutting operations, ensuring reliable engagement response and extended service life even under demanding commercial mowing conditions.
How to Identify your Countax tractor

Frequently Asked Questions

Why won't my Countax blades engage after replacing the PTO belt?
When Countax blades fail to engage despite a new PTO belt, potential causes include the PTO clutch not receiving electrical power due to faulty wiring or a defective switch, the PTO clutch itself being worn and unable to create sufficient magnetic force to engage even with a good belt, or the belt being incorrectly routed so it doesn't receive proper tension from the engagement system. Start troubleshooting by verifying the PTO switch activates with a multimeter before examining mechanical components.
Should I engage my Countax PTO at full throttle or idle speed?
You should always engage your Countax PTO at full throttle rather than at idle because engaging blades at low engine speeds creates tremendous shock loads on the belt and clutch system as the heavy blade assembly must accelerate rapidly, often causing premature belt failure or even breaking belts instantly. Full throttle engagement allows the engine's power curve to smoothly accelerate the blades whilst maintaining engine rpm, reducing stress on all drive components and significantly extending PTO belt life.
How do I know if my PTO clutch is damaging my Countax belt?
Signs that your PTO clutch may be damaging belts include excessive heat buildup on the belt and clutch area after operation, visible scoring or glaze marks on the belt from slipping during engagement, the belt showing uneven wear concentrated near the clutch pulley, or hearing grinding noises when engaging the PTO that indicate the clutch isn't fully releasing or engaging cleanly. A failing PTO clutch often destroys new belts within hours of installation through excessive slippage and heat generation.
What's the difference between a PTO belt and a deck belt on Countax mowers?
On some Countax models particularly zero-turn machines, the PTO belt runs from the engine clutch to a jackshaft or primary pulley assembly whilst a separate deck belt then distributes power from this jackshaft to the individual blade spindles, allowing the deck to be removed without disturbing the engine connection. Other Countax models use a single belt that serves both functions, running directly from the engine PTO clutch to all the blade spindles without an intermediate transfer point.
Can a worn PTO clutch destroy new Countax PTO belts?
A worn or failing PTO clutch will absolutely destroy new belts rapidly through several mechanisms including insufficient magnetic force that allows excessive slippage during engagement generating destructive heat, a warped clutch face that doesn't make even contact with the belt causing localized wear and burning, or debris and corrosion on the clutch surface that acts like sandpaper on the belt material. If you're replacing PTO belts frequently, have the clutch tested before installing another new belt to avoid repeated expensive failures.
